Partner, Mr. Graeme Rooney – Brief Bio

Mr. Rooney has over 30 years of board level international management experience in the Supply Chain Sector across Asia, Europe, Middle East , and the USA. The last 20 years have been at CEO and Managing Director level leading and transforming Suttons International and previously TDG. Graeme is a leader, an innovator and an international strategist having consistently created value for all stakeholders. Graeme joined the partnership with the launch of our UK company, PanVenture Consulting Limited.
From 2009 to 2016 Graeme was Global Managing Director, Suttons International (Singapore and Asia) successfully transforming this company from a continental transport provider to an international logistics and supply chain business. From 1994 to 2009 Graeme was CEO Chemicals and Industrial, TDG (London, Manchester, Barcelona and Dubai). At TDG Graeme led TDG’s Chemical Division from start up to USD 430m revenue. He led the improvement of management capability and expertise by developing and mentoring talent. Graeme has managed the acquisition, integration, and growth of 6 businesses in Belgium, China, Ireland, Spain, and Singapore. Graeme developed and implemented 3 year strategies at both Suttons and TDG. Graeme also acted as Distribution Centre Manager (Watford) and General Manager Network Operations (Liverpool) at NYK Line between 1990 and 1994. Graeme received a BA (Honours) in Business Studies and Marketing from Edinburgh Napier University (UK) in 1982.

Partner, Dr. Christopher Bayley – Brief Bio

Dr. Bayley has board level experience across multiple industries and has managed international operations in UK, USA and Asia. Chris has expertise in Chinese language and culture, international marketing, project management, financial management, education management, facilities management, interim management, and knowledge management. Chris is the Founding Partner of PanVenture Consulting and has conducted numerous global assignments with PanVenture. Chris was bought in on an interim management consulting role as the Director of International Development (2009 to 2015) for a Sino-British joint venture university (The Sino-British College) . Chris set up the International Office and was responsible for international recruitment. Chris was based in China, and travelling to over 25 countries around the world. Within 3 years Chris achieved international growth from 0.1% to 10% of total students and annual growth of 50% year on year. Chris was bought in on an interim management consulting role as Director of Campus Operations (2003 to 2006) for University of Nottingham, China, based in Ningbo, China. Chris was responsible for all operations including accounting, finance, procurement, operations, estates and facilities at the 140 acre campus which had about 4,000 students and 200 staff at that time. With PanVenture, Chris has worked with numerous clients to provide international finance and business solutions for UK and US companies expanding their business in China and assisted technology companies aiming to benefit from Chinese strategic investors in order to gain access to the large Chinese market and distribution channels throughout Asia. Prior to founding PanVenture, Chris was the Regional Director of Knowledge Management at KPMG Asia Pacific (1996 to 2000), responsible for knowledge management for 127 offices in 27 Asian Pacific countries. Reporting directly to the Regional Partner, Chris implemented KMPG’s global internet, intranet and extranets overcoming the Asian knowledge-sharing cultures and challenges. Prior to this, Chris was an independent consultant with Bay Area Biotech Consultants (Based in San Francisco, California, USA) (1994 to 1996), and established a consultancy to assist start-up Biotech companies in California to create business plans, financials projections, marketing plans, presentations, negotiation, contract writing and deal-closing to obtain funding and favourable term-sheets. Chris was Co-Founder and VP of Marketing for Panocea Products, a subsidiary of Panorama Research (Based in Palo Alto, California, USA) (1994 to 1995), where he spun-off a biotechnology company in California. Chris was responsible for product development, marketing strategy and communications, building sales agent networks, with strong growth in Asian markets. He also spun-off an early E-Commerce and Internet consulting company. Chris was Director of Business Development (1993 to 1994) for Immudyne, Inc (Based in Palo Alto, California, USA), reporting directly to the President and CEO. Responsible for new product development, marketing, corporate strategy and business plan for Asia and Europe for a Texas healthcare/biotechnology company. Chris acted as an expert witness to defend Immudyne’s patents. Chris spent a number of years conducting laboratory research on the regulation of DNA expression in crop plants including rice, wheat and cotton, including postdoctoral research for the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, the US Department of Agriculture, and Dupont Experimental Station. Chris holds an MBA in International Finance and Marketing from Santa Clara University, California, USA (1992 to 1993).  Chris also graduated with a PhD in Biotechnology from University of Nottingham, UK (1983 to 1987) and a BSc Joint Honours in Genetics and Biochemistry from University of Nottingham, UK (1980 to 1983). Chris has a number of peer reviewed scientific publications including in the prestigious journal Nature.

Professor Ian Gow has strongly supported the development of Chinese Studies and Sino-Chinese relations and was responsible for the establishment of the Centre of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Sheffield and was the founding Director of the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Nottingham. Professor Gow served as a member of the UK Government’s Office of Science and Technology’s Asia-Pacific Science and Technology Committee and was also a member of the Steering Committee of the Economic and Social Research Council’s Pacific Asia Project. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society Arts and Commerce and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Linguists.
